What we collect

When you sign up for air quality alerts, we collect your email address and the ZIP codeyou searched. That's it.

We do not collect your name, device identifiers, or any account information, and we do not store your device location — see Location below.

Why we collect it

Solely to send you an email when air quality near your ZIP changes — smoke events, elevated ozone, or conditions that affect outdoor activity. We will not email you for any other reason.

Location

If you tap "Use my location", your browser asks your permission and then shares your approximate coordinates with us once, solely to look up the ZIP code for your area. We use those coordinates for that single lookup and never store, log, or share them. Only the resulting ZIP code is used — exactly as if you had typed it.

Who sees it

Your email and ZIP are stored in our email service provider (Resend) and visible only to the BreathCount team. We never sell, rent, or share your information with third parties.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first tool that collects no personal data and sets no cookies. No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting.

How to opt out

Reply to any email from BreathCount with the word "unsubscribe" and we will remove you within 24 hours. You can also email us at alerts@breathcount.org.

Data retention

We keep your email until you unsubscribe. After removal, your data is deleted from our systems within 30 days.
